CDSL
FinanceCentral Depository Services (India) Limited is a Market Infrastructure Institution founded in 1999 to hold securities in dematerialised form at an affordable cost, and a regulated depository whose core work is electronic custody, transfers, and investor and issuer services for India’s capital market. It is not a stock broker, not a mutual-fund distributor, and not a trading app. An investor who opens a demat account through a Depository Participant, or a company that uses e-Voting, is still dealing with the same MII that sits between exchanges, clearing corporations, DPs, issuers, registrars, and beneficial owners. The official overview publishes 6.85 crore investor accounts, 585 Depository Participants, 584,765 million securities in demat custody, and custody value of ₹3,38,41,071 million. Those figures are the company’s stated snapshot, not a live ticker. Named electronic services are easi, easiest, SMART, e-Voting, M-Voting, Myeasi, and e-Locker. Easi lets a beneficial owner watch a CDSL demat account and corporate announcements without visiting a branch. Easiest adds online debit instructions so a client need not carry paper slips to a DP. SMART sends SMS alerts on corporate-action credits or debits and on demographic changes. e-Voting and M-Voting let shareholders vote on company resolutions from a browser or a phone. Myeasi puts easi and easiest on a mobile device. e-Locker stores electronic documents in a central vault. History includes online inter-depository transfers, CDSL Ventures, KYC registration, the National Academic Depository, an insurance repository, GIFT City work, and cooperation arrangements with market institutions in Nepal, Malaysia, Japan, Russia, Taiwan, Europe, Korea, and the United States. Technology is described as a centralised architecture with multi-factor authentication, enterprise storage, and a disaster-recovery site in a different seismic zone. Information-security and continuity claims include ISO 27001 and ISO 22301. Official social destinations—Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram at cdslindia, YouTube at @CDSLIndiaLtd, and the WhatsApp channel 0029Vao84Nu11ulQQx43so3p—are public-information channels. They are not places to share a DP login, OTP, or PIN, and not desks that “unfreeze” an account for a fee. Confirm holdings only inside easi, easiest, or your DP’s official portal.
